Job Description

As the Security Lead, you will be responsible for the Security (Physical, Personnel, & Information) leadership and oversight of Altrad on site, and the scope of work within the Sizewell project site.

You will also ensure delivery of nuclear safety at Sizewell through creation and maintenance of a secure status across all activities, driven by personal, team, and organisational security excellence.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the Security (Physical, Personnel, & Information) leadership and oversight of Altrad on site, and the scope of work within the Sizewell project site, to ensure delivery of nuclear safety at Sizewell through creation and maintenance of a secure status across all activities, driven by personal, team, and organisational security excellence.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of clear governance of security risk, through simple and robust lines of accountability and responsibly.
  • The principal security risk advisor to the Project Manager
  • Support the Senior leadership team and senior functional leads, to champion incorporated security excellence to deliver their Business-as-usual activities.
  • Responsible for the continuous development, maintenance, and continuous advancement of the Security Strategies, Policies, Standards, and Security Management Risk System, ensuring all documentation is produced and managed in-line with EDF and nuclear legislative compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relevant metrics and performance indicators to allow provision of regular performance updates of the security function activities and effects; as well as wider project wide security related performance, to the senior leadership team.
  • Responsible for the business management of the security function, including preparing security input to the Task Orders, aligned to the forecasted programme of work.
  • Responsible for the Leadership, operational coordination, and line management of a proportionally grown and maintained security risk management team.
  • Ensure a continuous high-level holistic understanding of current and planned activities.
  • Responsible for the development, deployment, maintenance, and continuous advancement of a security risk management methodology and framework that supports the activities within the Sizewell project site.
  • Responsible in ensuring security risk assurances and requirements for Hold-points, Control-Gates, and milestone advancements are achieved.
  • Act at the single point of liaison for security matters between the Sizewell site security management
  • Represent Altrad as required at project meetings and conferences were security and security risk management is an agenda item.
  • Regular Liaison and engagement with subject matter experts in the wider Project Security communities.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a robust Security Culture within all team members.
  • Responsible for conducting, and reporting on, security event investigations caused by, or within, the project. Providing documented incident reports, with advice to the sites executives and senior leadership team on recommendations for actions in response to investigation findings.
Experience Required
  • The post holder will be academically educated to degree level, with an emphasis on security risk management.
  • The post holder will hold a recognised professional Level 5 qualification in Security Risk Management and have a comparable level of practical experience.
  • The post holder Should hold and be professionally security certified (ASIS Certified Protection Professional [CPP] for example).
  • Experience in providing security risk management in highly regulated construction and engineering projects.
  • Confident and willing to challenge Norms - identifying and championing change & improvement.
  • An industrious can-do attitude supported by emotional and physical Resilience.
  • Management of, and clear concise communication to, stakeholders and essential professional supporting relationships.
  • Strong documentation development and writing skills. Post holder must have excellent oral communication skills, always communicating with Influence, and must be a capable and confident presenter of briefings, and security awareness and training.
  • Can achieve and maintain the required security clearance level (SC)
Qualifications Needed
  • Excellent understanding and practical experience of complex security challenges, threats, and risks associated with sensitive Projects. 
  • Experience of defining, understanding, and interpreting contractual clauses and requirements, and assuring compliance with those requirements.
  • Awareness and comprehension of the ONR Security assessment principles (SyAPs) and Technical Assessment Guides (TAGs).
  • Awareness and comprehension of project management principles and processes.
