Job Description

The MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C, comprising an MEH JV made up of Altrad Services, Balfour Beatty, NG Bailey, Cavendish and Doosan in alliance with EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB), is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the new and challenging role of Temporary Works Co-Ordinator. 

MEH Alliance has an opening for a Temporary Works Co-Ordinator, who will be responsible for ensuring all activities are in accordance with legal requirement and the British standard. They will also ensure sub-contractors/partners Temporary Works Registers are maintained and updated as live documents. 

The role also includes preparing design briefs, supplied from the Temporary Works Designer, checking that the brief meets the needs of the proposed scheme and accurately reflecting the site conditions.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the standard (HPC-MEHALL-XX-000-PRO-900363 REV B) for the Management of Temporary Works is implemented at HPC and in accordance with BS5975.
  • Ensure formal appointment By MEH D.I. using the (HPC-MEHALL-XX-000-FRM-900056) Form.
  • Ensure sub-contractors/partners follow their accepted temporary works procedures.
  • Identify all elements of Temporary Works.
  • Compile a register (HPC-HK8010-AU-ALL-REG-100001) detailing each element of the Temporary Works required for the project. If the Temporary Works are undertaken by MEH Alliance otherwise ensure sub-contractors/partners Temporary Works Registers are maintained and updated as live documents. 
  • With advice from the Temporary Works Designer, prepare, or help prepare design briefs, checking that the brief meets the needs of the proposed scheme and accurately reflect the site conditions.
  • Review the Temporary Works Design and Design Risk Assessment and ensure that all residual risks are highlighted to those responsible for the erection of the temporary works.
  • Ensure that, for each individual item of Cat 1, 2 or 3 Temporary Works, a suitable design check certificate is issued before Temporary Works construction begins. 
  • Check that information contained within the design is incorporated into the site specific method statements and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that a copy of the design is issued to all interested parties (Permanent Works Designer / Client etc.)
  • Where required by (HPC-NNBGEN-XX-000-STA-100021) ensure that the Temporary Works Design has been issued to NNB for FFC-A approval prior to work being undertaken.
  • Appoint a suitably competent Temporary Works Supervisor to supervise the construction of the Temporary Works. 
  • Ensure that Temporary Works are inspected prior to construction confirming adequacy of materials.
  • Ensure that hold points (Permit to Load/Unload) are identified and not passed until a permit is issued.
  • Ensure that full records and documentation are retained as site records.

The MEH Alliance TWC shall carry out the below duties

  • Ensure all activities are in accordance with legal requirement and the British standard.  
  • Record the findings of audit reports and inspections in line with the SharePoint Management system.
  • Intervene when unsafe practices are observed, offer solutions to observations made.
  • OR delegate the listed duties to an MEH Alliance appointed TWS (if work is directly undertaken by MEH Alliance),
  • OR ensure that the listed duties are carried out by the relevant Contract Partner TWC or TWS(s).

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensure all activities are in accordance of legal requirement and the British standard.  
  • Record the findings of audit reports and inspections in line with the SharePoint Management system.
  • Intervene when unsafe practices are observed, offer solutions to observations made.
Experience Required
  • Ideally an individual with a background in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Ideally experienced working with a Joint Venture
  • Suitable site experience in a similar role, preferably in the nuclear industry.  
  • Basic understanding of nuclear sites. 
Qualifications Needed
  • SMSTS
  • CCNSG Safety Passport.
  • CITB Temporary works Co-ordinator certified. 
  • Strong Civil construction and access background and working with CMD and management of Temporary works.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain Temporary Works procedures and expectations to a range of people. 
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations. 
  • IT literate – familiar with Microsoft packages. 
  • CDM 2015 competent.
