Job Description

The MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the new and challenging role of Coatings Engineer on site at Hinkley Point C in Bridgwater, Somerset.

As the MEH Coatings Engineer, you will drive delivery of documentation from Site teams, Supervision, supplier(s) and follow-through on NNB backlogs in support of supplier(s) deliveries. 

Accountabilities:

Maintain an accurate Job card tracker: Act as primary schedule interface between planning department and Discipline Lead, relay and liaise detail and data with Discipline Lead.  

  • Challenge supplier reporting
  • Follow-through on actions agreed with Construction team and supplier’s including recoveries and mitigations.
  • Identification of risks and opportunities through day-to-day engagement with suppliers.
  • No budgetary accountability, but responsible for assuring no commitments made outside authority.
  • Other support to delivery of the Programme objectives as identified by PM and others. 
  • Support the development of Joint Management Team and collaborative working to reinforce working behaviours against agreed principles and objectives.

Key Deliverables:

  • Promote the HPC way through Excellence Delivered
  • Accurate, reliable reporting and data base update.
  • Supplier schedule and delivery reporting.
  • Action recommendations from Lead and Construction team. 
  • Identification of risks and opportunities
  • Accurate, up to date time keeping liaising between Supervision Discipline Lead and Project controls
  • Ensure that a full and auditable archive of project deliverables is maintained to document the project evolution, history and communicated to the relevant site team.

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience (as per MEH matrix)

  • HNC or equivalent or above. OR  2+ Years Construction site management team experience PREFERABLY in the Coatings Industry, or demonstrate exposure of projects in another project Staff position.
  • Communication skills – First class communication and presentation skills.
  • Results orientation – Understanding the required results and focusing to achieve them.
  • Drive and resilience – Determination to succeed in situations and adapt effectively to new situations.
  • Planning and organisation – Working in a structured and thoughtful way whilst demonstrating initiative. 
  • Teamwork – Working closely with colleagues to achieve a common goal.
  • Likely early in a PM career path, but willing to learn and apply project management and organisational skills, which has been gained through practical experience, most likely in a junior position within a project.
  • Good written and oral skills, basic IT literacy, able to communicate effectively.
  • Undertake individual working to a high level of attention to detail.

Additional Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Some planning experience would be an advantage in the role.
  • Experience working in high integrity, regulated industries would be an advantage. 
  • Commercial awareness desirable though not essential.
