Job Description

The MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the new and challenging role of Quality Documentation / Document Control Author on site at Bridgwater, Somerset.

As the MEH Document Control Author, you will be responsible for controlling and managing documents to ensure document reliability for security, version, visibility, availability and, most importantly, to facilitate a controlled reliable audit trail.  You will also handle both hard copy (physical) documents and soft copy (electronic) document files as well as overseeing the flow of information through documents, ensuring that proper documents are available or sent to those as assigned i.e.

Main activities to include:

  • Ensure the documents remain legible and readily identifiable
  • Identify external documents and control their distribution
  • Prevent obsolete/superseded documents from unintended use
  • Apply suitable identification to obsolete/superseded documents.
  • Including and not limited to MEHA Construction deliverables, such as Method Statements & Risk Assessments (RAMS), Lift Plans, Inspection, Test & Approval Plans (ITAP's), Construction Management Plans, General plans and layouts as required by Ancillary buildings scope.
  • To possess the key IT (Information Technology) and diplomatic skills to produce and revise documents including liaison with key stakeholders, informal and formal reviews and successful close out of comments in an accurate and timely fashion and in line with the periods for reply.
  • Responsible for providing monthly achieved quantities to project controls
  • Responsible for providing WTO hours worked to project controls on a month by month basis

Your other duties will include:

  • To be responsible for issuing the periodic update of such documents.
  • To be responsible for the editing, correction and update of all discipline construction related documents (where required) prior to issue to the Client/Principal Contractor for review and acceptance.
  • To work in conjunction with NNB & MEHA central Document Controller – (this role is not to be confused with that of a Central Document Controller).
  • To carry out a final sense check on all construction deliverables to ensure that they are complete and ready to issue to the client (have all appendices been attached etc.)
  • To ensure that all construction deliverables that are received from the Client after a review have been shared with MEHA staff and that they are notified of any comments, the documents are updated and issued back within the agreed timescale
  • To ensure that any comments that have been received from the Client/Principal Contractor have been updated within the MEHA Comments Tracker and each responsible Manager has updated the tracker to reflect any changes made to document before submission to the Client/Principal Contractor
  • In line with our key values this position holder will adopt a “One Team” MEH approach, ensuring and committing to the "HPC Way"
  • They will seek competent specialist advice on identified topics as required. Assist in audits of MEH site activities and sub-contractor operations and record any findings.
  • To ensure that all documentation on site is are in current revision (latest version) by carrying out regular site audits.
  • To be the Liaison of Technical reviews with SME’s and Site Team  

Minimum qualifications/experience

  • Can achieve security clearance (BPSS or higher).
  • Excellent (Advanced) IT Literate skills (Competent) - (predominantly MS Office & Adobe Pro etc.), experience and exposure to Document control and use of collaborative shared platforms / B.C / TeamCenter, (Viewpoint (4P), Share-point and CEMAR) ETC;
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively within a large team
  • Following process and achieving readiness; Ability to understand and retain knowledge
  • Experience of working in a heavily regulated and secure environment
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and produce accurate work.
  • Must be methodical and process driven
  • Generates high quality output of documents such as management plans
  • Experience in large scale projects in the nuclear or similar regulated sector, including major EPC projects
  • Experienced in delivering and operating at a Management level
  • Experienced in working in a Joint Venture or Alliance environment
