Job Description

The MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C, comprising an MEH JV made up of Altrad Services, Balfour Beatty, NG Bailey, Cavendish and Doosan in alliance with EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB), is seeking an experienced candidate to fill new and challenging Assistant Project Manager - Package Manager EPM role on site at Bridgwater in Somerset.

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead, support and assist on tasks required to support the Project Manager’s delivery of the project and contract scope for HPC, including variations, claims, technical queries and instructions, using CEMAR. 

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Support PM to undertake all contract administration activities (with support of a Commercial Manager)
  • Liaise and interface with the other key teams on specific tasks which are required to support the principal task of delivery of the project and contract scope for HPC. 
  • Participate in providing support to the Team with regard to compliance with approved procedures. 
  • Participate in developing the relationships with key stakeholders for the HPC project
  • Support the project management functions of the technical work streams to help ensure they are completed on time and on budget, supporting the management of commercial and technical Work through all phases of the project, including management and coordination of responses to Technical Queries.
  • Inputs to weekly and monthly Performance Reporting
  • Live updates of the Project Definition Document 
  • Implement strategies and plans in line with the overall Programme Definition Document (PgDD), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised and executed. 
  • Maintaining configuration control of Works Information
  • Undertaking Project Manager’s assessments of payment applications and quotations with recommendations for the PM/SPM.
  • Chairing weekly/monthly Document Control meetings
  • Supporting the Project Manager in the co-ordination of gateway reviews
  • Ad hoc requirements of the Executive/SPM. 
  • Assist PM in resolution of issues/ NCR’s/ etc during the manufacturing process to ensure quality and schedule are maintained.
Experience Required
  • Track record of working on projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
  • Demonstrate success in managing / developing:
  • Engineering design, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
  • Multi-discipline EPCM projects,
  • Procurement and management of complex contracts,
  • Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools,
  • Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
  • Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate experience of project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. 
  • Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled.
  • Understand how to apply a graded approach to quality
Qualifications Needed
  • Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations advantageous but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of French language an advantage.
  • Ideally degree qualified in engineering, construction, physics or other related field.
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Knowledge and / or practitioner of Project Management with experience of applying either; APM body of knowledge and OGC's Prince 2.
