Job Description

A great opportunity for an experienced Environmental Sustainability Manager to join a company that is based North West England.

As environmental sustainability manager, you will be is required to positively influence the company’s ES performance. Working collaboratively with all areas of the business to minimise its impact on the environment, aid compliance with environmental laws and regulations, ensure adherence to environmental quality standards and, lead the company towards a “net zero” future.

This is a new role, which has the full support of its CEO and executive team and provides a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of environmental management and improvement with this winning team.

The role will create, implement, and monitor environmental strategies to reduce energy consumption, waste and promote sustainable manufacturing and development. The role includes reviewing all of the company’s manufacturing operations from a sustainability perspective, carrying out environmental audits and assessments, identifying environmental risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate solutions.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Being the lead environmental adviser to the business and its Executive Committee.
  • Recommending organisational sustainability targets, developing plans to meet those targets and oversee their delivery.
  • Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy.
  • Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
  • Aiding compliance with environmental legislation and governance requirements working collaboratively with other key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Internal and external reporting as required.
  • Promoting environmental awareness and directly or indirectly facilitating delivery education to change behaviours.
  • Developing environmental management systems.
  • Working collaboratively with all areas of the business to foster a culture of continual development and environmental best practice.
  • Assisting supply chain with the procurement of sustainable goods and services.

Skills and qualifications required

Prior experience in a similar role in a manufacturing, engineering, operational or construction environment is required (a degree and/or professional accreditation in a relevant field is desirable but not essential).
