Job Description

The MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C, comprising an MEH JV made up of Altrad Services, Balfour Beatty, NG Bailey, Cavendish and Doosan in alliance with EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB), is seeking experienced candidates to fill new and challenging Senior HVAC Construction Engineer on site at Bridgwater, Somerset.

As a Senior HVAC Construction Engineer with the MEH Alliance, you will be involved with a wide variety of construction projects on Europe’s Largest engineering project.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the delivery of defined activities within grouped tasks, to quality and performance targets, led by a Project Engineering Lead.
  • Accountable for providing expert HVAC Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction input and guidance to activities.
  • Display and foster a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • The role will require reporting to a nominated ‘Task Lead’ on a day to day basis for delivery of specified scope and activities, with overall accountability functionally to the EPM HVAC Engineering Team.
  • This role will require taking the direction of the Task Lead in respect of the activity needs for delivery and performance.
  • Detailed design and execution design constructability support. This involves reviewing; HVAC model, GA drawings, ductwork and support manufacturing drawings (workbooks) against key project documentation, such as Terms of Reference and Technical Procurement Specifications. Key elements include; Constructability, Commissionability, Operability and Maintenance (CCOM) requirements. Support to CDM reviews by designers. This will involve discussing your review feedback with both designers and client (NNB) in face to face meeting and providing necessary justification.
  • Support to construction documentation packs including preparation of RAMS and other installation documentation.
  • Support to procurement of key bulk procurement packages; ductwork, ductwork supports, fire rated insulation and grilles. This may include surveillance of key technical elements to support through QA requirements.
  • The role will involve sequence planning, reporting and management of other team members as part of longer-term requirements.
  • Interface with other task delivery teams will be required, maintaining the functional accountability of each, but ensuring cross population of information is provided for best delivery for the project.
  • External interface will be required with several stakeholders including the Client, external design entities and external specialist supply chain partners, to enable the delivery of the activities scheduled.
Experience Required
  • HNC in engineering discipline, ideally with at least 10 years of experience in a nuclear or a related safety critical field.
  • Experience of manufacturing process of ductwork and ductwork support, and construction of large multi-discipline projects, understanding of engineering design delivery, understanding of cross-discipline relationships, interfaces, and coordination.
  • Experienced in their nominated discipline for delivery of services installations in complex and multi-discipline environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in the HVAC systems, providing input, advice and guidance on specific technical matters in an office environment or site-based, construction facing.
  • Alongside this you will demonstrate well-rounded communication skills and be confident in your delivery of team objectives and goals / plans by providing support, encouragement and clear direction to others.
  • Experience of engineering design delivery, requirements, standards, handover, and quality needs, including use of 3D modelling environment.
  • Experience of applying construction focussed understanding to developing engineering design for best practice, CCOM.
  • Experience in working with design teams to develop and integrate off-site fabrication solutions.
  • Experience in working with supply chain partners with regard to developing installation strategies for equipment. 
  • Working knowledge on international codes and standards.
Qualifications Needed
  • Degree in engineering (desirable).
  • Safety Passport / CSCS Card.
  • Chartered / Incorporated Engineer with relevant engineering institute or working towards Chartered / Incorporated status.
