Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor to join our busy Altrad team at the Fawley Refinery.

Your role will be to organise work to ensure it is undertaken safely, ethically and in the most productive manner.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the work is carried out in the most productive and cost-effective manner
  • Ensure site / plant priorities are addressed in a timely manner
  • Maintain the highest standards of Health and Safety, Environmental Performance and Industrial Relations
  • Ensure good 360-degree communications with trade teams
  • Ensure performance and competency issues are highlighted / addressed
  • Assist with the application of the disciplinary process as required
  • Ensure development issues are highlighted
  • Ensure individual pro-activity within team members
  • Generate and maintain a culture of Continuous Improvement within team members
  • Supervise team members in an effective and professional manner
  • Ensure adherence to company / site procedures, work processes, drawings / specifications and work order

  • Ensure compliance to appropriate BS and EN standards
  • Support company / site initiatives as required

HSE

  • Ensure safe and responsible working and full compliance to company and site safety procedures / initiatives
  • Deliver toolbox talks as required
  • Undertake safety audits as required
  • Ensure full compliance to the Risk Assessment and “Take 2” processes
  • Ensure high housekeeping standards are achieved
  • Support plant investigation processes as required

Compliance

  • To be fully aware of and use all job packs, procedures and specifications relating to the work in hand
  • Ensure that the work has been carried out / completed correctly, to the procedures, standards, drawings and
  • specifications
  • Ensure adherence to the Working Time Regulations / site guidelines
  • Ensure daily allocation sheets are correctly completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensure full compliance to site / company quality procedures

Productivity

  • Make sure that all necessary Alliance Company support, permits, materials, tools, equipment and information are available prior to commence of work
  • Ensure the required standard of workmanship and productivity is achieved
  • Review and update job packs / technical information as required to ensure increased safety and productivity
  • Ensure that activities are carried out in a the most productive manner
  • Identify rework situations to Trade Coordinator 
  • Identify all productivity and development issues to the Trade Coordinator
  • Ensure the optimum utilisation of working hours 
  • Accept permits as required, on behalf of trade teams, and ensure full understanding by all team members involved in the task prior to commencement of work 
  • Support and supervisor sub-contractor activities as required 
  • Undertake trade work as required 
  • Report daily the progress of the work to the Reliability Planner and update SAP as required 

Pro-activity 

  • Lead by example in encouraging teamwork, flexibility and a culture of continuous improvement · Assist with the site performance metrics 
  • Support the development of the planning process as required

Qualifications Needed
  • Approved apprenticeship
  • Minimum 5 years process plant experience
  • Demonstrate technical capability to supervise in a maintenance environment
  • Basic computer skills
