Job Description

To support the Proposals Manager and management team in the assembly of accurate and well organized estimates as required by Senior Management.

Key Tasks of the role-holder to achieve the business goals of Contract Delivery, Safety and Customer Satisfaction.

  • Analyse engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Understand contractual terms and conditions.
  • Assemble accurate and well organised estimates and proposals in a timely manner to meet project / competitive tender requirements (i.e. fixed price, target cost, reimbursable) for design & build and construction contracts.
  • Day to day support for project management / engineers with for site based estimates.
  • Produced detailed activity schedules in WBS format from issued information (EO’s, drawings, scope of works etc.).
  • Provide clear detailed quantity take offs.
  • Organise and compare sub-contractors’ quotations, negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract requirements.
  • Monitor progress and provide quotations for compensation events where required.
  • Identify risks and opportunities, compile and cost risk registers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with sub-contractors and clients. 
  • Ensure site personnel are provided with required works information and scope documentation related to project / scope
  • Handover of estimates and bids to team when contracts are secured.
  • Formulate cost break down from estimates for project monitoring. 

Experience / Skills

  • HNC / HND Engineering / Construction industry.
  • Experience estimating projects and contracts.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Experience of estimating of Multidiscipline works, including but not limited to Decommissioning, Mechanical, Fabrication, Scaffolding, Insulation, Asbestos removal and protective coatings.
  • Experience of estimating utilising norms-based contracts.
  • Experience of NEC based contract models.
  • Experience in Microsoft Project & Primavera (beneficial but not essential).
  • Experience of compiling and pricing risk registers.
  • Ability to review and assess project programmes prior to tender submission.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience working in the construction field in similar or related position.
