Job Description

Working with a leading construction & engineering services provider, you will be responsible for continually developing, leading and delivering the environmental and sustainability strategy, management and other requirements in support of the operational business helping them to achieve their overarching goal of ‘Excellence Delivered’.

This includes designing and delivering the carbon net zero plan via measurable milestones, managing and reducing energy usage via the implementation of new technologies and maximising waste prevention throughout the business. 

Delivering environmental supply chain management both upstream and downstream and providing advice and reviews for compliance, quality and environmental matters. 

You will also own, maintain and update the environmental sections of the company’s Integrated Management System which is certified to ISO14001 and ISO50001 taking into account best practice and legislative requirements. 

Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with UK, European Union and international regulation and legislation and liaising as required with relevant bodies such as local authorities and public bodies.

You will also assist in the management of external audits for certification bodies and clients from an environmental point of view and the preparation of management reports, data interpretation bid, tenders and internal audits as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in sustainability related role
  • Excellent engagement and influencing skills.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of sustainability policy and practice
  • Working knowledge of current health, safety and quality legislation, policy and practice
  • Ability to think critically and to take on board complicated concepts.
  • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels
  • Highly organised with a high level of attention to detail
  • Able to produce high quality written correspondence and reports
  • Proactive work ethic with ability to manage own workload and timelines
