Job Description

Altrad UK currently has an opportunity for a Contract Safety Advisor to join its busy team at ConocoPhillips in Teesside.

Your role will be to support the ConocoPhillips HSEQ dept. in monitoring and reviewing working conditions, procedures and practices throughout the facility to ensure compliance with legislation, company policy, directives, plant procedure and policies.

Roles and Responsibilities

Comply with UK Legislative, Regulatory and Company Safety requirements:

  • Recognise COMAH regulations, DSEAR, ATEX, CDM and Process Safety implications 
  • Coordinate and participate in incident investigations as required
  • Responsible for maintaining relevant documentation to reflect current National/International and Corporate/Business Unit standards and develop fit for purpose Teesside standards
  • Take accountability to remain compliant in your role by completing any required training in a timely manner

Safety Systems Management 

  • Ensure there are safe systems of work in place and that the organisation is trained and competent in its use 
  • Provide support and guidance in the preparation of risk assessments and other legal/corporate requirements
  • To review and agree method statements for both internal and external contract maintenance where appropriate
  • To conduct formal risk assessments where necessary

Health and Safety Visibility and Support

  • Weekly auditing and surveillance visits of site performance, to ensure the highest standards of compliance are achieved. Advise on this process and put improvement actions in place where appropriate
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly safety briefs
  • Provide support and guidance in the investigation of accidents / incidents
  • Ensure a daily visible presence of Safety department on site
  • Establish and maintain records as required e.g. hazards, assessments, surveys etc.
  • Working within management systems accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
     
Experience Required
  • Extensive Safety experience in the oil & gas industry or other regulated industry – Essential
  • Incident Investigation qualification (Taproot or RCA) or equivalent – Desirable 
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate – Essential
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills – Essential
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages and SAP – Essential
  • Good reporting, communication and workload management – Essential
  • Appropriate Physical and Mental Capability to undertake the role – Essential
Qualifications Needed
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Safety / Engineering – Preferred 
  • NEBOSH general certificate (minimum)– Essential 
  • Chartered Safety Practitioner or working towards – Desirable
  • Qualified Auditor – Desirable 
  • Training and Development Certificate – Desirable
