Job Description

The MEH Alliance on Hinkley Point C, is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the challenging role of Electrical Construction Engineer on site at Bridgwater, Somerset.

In your role you will produce a process or procedure to provide clear concise instruction on how an item of equipment may be installed and the checks and balances required to prove installation to requirements. 

Roles and Responsibilities
  • HPC Site based role 
  • RAMS – able to produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements to support a package of works.
  • Process and Procedures – able to produce a process or procedure to provide clear concise instruction on how an item of equipment may be installed and the checks and balances required to prove installation to requirements. 
  • Select appropriate construction methods and strategies
  • Carrying out of constructability studies including CDM assessments 
  • Liaison with the client to understand the HPC strategy for site wide management 
  • Specification of site requirements including temporary works and buildings
  • Specification of system setting to work and testing requirements
  • Derivation of material logistics plans including lifting requirements
  • Actively demonstrate an attitude to safe working practice that reflects our own and our Client’s culture strong safety culture.   
  • Requirements – able to deduce and identify specific requirements for project and construction aspects.
  • Proposals – able to critique requirements and compile strategies into targeted proposals as solutions to problems.
Experience Required
  • Appropriate Engineering degree or suitable experience
  • Professional accreditation preferred
  • NVQ Leadership and Management
  • IOSH Managing Safety
  • Extensive experience in Construction Engineering. Time served plus 10 years’ experience.
  • Considerable relevant experience in the construction of Power Generation and or oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries facilities (pressure vessels, tanks, mechanical, fabrication, pipelines, piping etc.) including live installations.
  • Makes prompt and appropriate decisions even with limited information.
  • Meets commitments and adheres to the Code of Business Conduct and ethical behaviour, procedures and rules/regulations.
  • Establishes & maintains effective relationships with customers, gains their trust & respect.
  • Ability to demonstrate an attitude to safe working practice that reflects our own and our Client’s strong safety culture.
  • Populating and or using a works management system.

  • Willing to undergo a Security assessment (BPSS)
  • Willing to take a mandatary pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol test and post-employment be subject to random testing
  • Hold a current or a be willing to undertake CCNSG Safety Certificate or CSCS Safety Certificate 
  • There is no parking available at HPC site. Free buses are supplied from either Bristol City Centre or from the Park & Ride facilities located off the M5 Junction 23 & 24.
