As Armed Forces Week began, Altrad was proud to announce a new partnership with the inspirational charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers. The collaboration marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to the military community, following the company’s signing of the Armed Forces Covenant last year.
Scotty’s Little Soldiers provides vital support to children and young people, aged 0-25, who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces. Deeply moved by the charity’s mission, Altrad is eager to contribute to its impactful work, particularly through the charity’s “STRIDES” programme, which aims to deliver improved educational and employment outcomes for bereaved military children as they transition into adulthood.
The partnership was formally launched during a recent visit to Carrington in Lancashire, where Nikki Scott, founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers, met with Altrad CEO John Walsh. Together, they explored ways in which Altrad can support the charity’s goals and amplify its reach.
Speaking about the partnership, John Walsh, commented: “I am really excited by the partnership we have launched with Scotty’s. It is a truly inspiring charity and a demonstration of our commitment to the military community under the Armed Forces Covenant. I am confident we can support them in many ways as they continue their extraordinary work with bereaved military children and their families. I hope our people across the business will be inspired by what they do and get involved in supporting the charity.”
Altrad is proud to employ veterans across its operations and recognises the unique transferable skills and perspectives that former service personnel bring to the workforce.
This partnership with Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a testament to Altrad’s broader mission to engage with and uplift the communities it serves, especially those who have given so much in service to the nation.
Nikki Scott, founder of Scotty’s said: “It was really good to meet John and hear the passion to support Scotty’s from the top of such a significant company – and with the intention to really build a meaningful partnership. That means so much to us and the young people we work with. We are very thankful.
“We know that bereaved military children have lower educational and employment outcomes, so partnerships with incredible businesses like Altrad are exciting because it will help deliver funds and outstanding development opportunities for our young people.”
