The Welding Engineer supports the Welding Managers in ensuring all welding activities and welding‑related processes are delivered to the highest technical and quality standards. Operating within a nuclear power generation environment, the role requires strict adherence to RCC‑M specifications, with a strong focus on materials, workmanship, and regulatory compliance. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding the development, implementation, and governance of welding strategies, procedures, and inspection techniques across the project.
Welding Process Development & Quality Assurance
- Develop welding processes and procedures that fully meet specification and RCC‑M requirements.
- Ensure the most appropriate welding methods and techniques are selected to achieve right‑first‑time quality.
- Oversee the implementation and governance of welding procedures to ensure consistent, compliant, and high‑quality outputs.
Technical Expertise & Stakeholder Support
- Provide expert technical advice, guidance, and commentary on all welding and welding‑related matters.
- Act as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, including the client, JV‑nominated suppliers, and strategic partners.
- Support the development and execution of the project’s Welding Strategy, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT/NDE) Support
- Contribute to the NDT/NDE strategy (e.g., RT, UT, VT), ensuring safe, efficient, and appropriate inspection techniques are applied.
- Support the evaluation of welded joints through effective analysis and interpretation of NDT results.
Governance, Oversight & Continuous Improvement
- Support oversight of welding activities to ensure compliance with approved processes and procedures.
- Promote continuous improvement in welding practices, inspection methods, and quality assurance controls.
- Ensure welding‑related activities meet nuclear industry standards and project‑specific quality goals.
