The Construction Engineer – HVAC is responsible for delivering discipline‑specific construction work packs that support programme delivery. Working closely with the Building Lead, the role contributes to day‑to‑day construction planning, engineering coordination, and progress management for allocated building(s). This includes ensuring documentation, sequencing, and constructability considerations are fully aligned to enable safe, efficient, and high‑quality installation.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Delegate responsibilities to Construction Engineers and Works Coordination Leads, providing clear direction and motivation.
  • Lead, manage, and inspire the construction team through the application of best‑practice methods.
  • Support the Building Manager or nominated deputy by providing strong leadership and effective communication.

Work Pack Delivery & Scope Management

  • Take full accountability for delivering discipline‑specific Construction Work Pack scope to support construction activities.
  • Define clear boundaries of scope and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Liaise with SMEs and client counterparts to resolve technical queries and maintain clarity of scope.

Documentation & Configuration Control

  • Ensure all construction documentation complies with the latest Works Information and MEH documentation.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documents, reviewing them at least every six months.
  • Drive deliverables from conception to A‑Accepted status, achieving >90% first‑time acceptance.
  • Prioritise documentation to support construction in line with the Level 4 plan (e.g., T‑3 months acceptance prior to works).

Continuous Improvement & Process Support

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance construction processes and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency across the mechanical piping scope.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Demonstrate strong HSE leadership and promote a compliant, positive safety culture throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Ensure all activities comply with nuclear safety, site licence conditions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor safety, quality, and schedule adherence through close coordination with project teams.

Reporting & Resource Management

  • Report directly to the Building Manager or nominated deputy, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and documentation status.
  • Review and provide feedback on resource levels and equipment needs to ensure effective delivery of the support function.
