The Commercial Analyst plays a key role in developing, maintaining, and overseeing commercial standards, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role ensures that government requirements and industry best practice are embedded across commercial activities, enabling consistent, effective, and compliant commercial delivery. The Commercial Analyst is also responsible for the accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of commercial data and management information across the full commercial lifecycle.
Data Analysis, Insight & Reporting
- Conduct analysis and provide insights that inform key commercial decisions, using data from commercial systems and P2P platforms.
- Collate and validate information to meet all internal and external reporting requirements.
- Develop and enhance reporting capabilities, including the creation of commercial dashboards and performance metrics.
Systems, Tools & Data Integrity
- Support the development and maintenance of systems and tools that capture accurate, accessible, and secure commercial information.
- Maintain awareness of internal and external reporting expectations, risk appetite, and business priorities to ensure data sources remain relevant and fit for purpose.
- Monitor data integrity across commercial systems and coordinate swift resolution of issues.
Commercial Systems Support
- Support the functionality and development of commercial systems, including pipeline management, contract registers, and supplier intelligence/resilience tools.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve system performance and usability.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain a robust framework of commercial governance and control.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance commercial processes, reporting, and decision‑making.
- Ensure commercial standards and best practices are consistently applied across the organisation.
Supply Chain & Market Insight
- Analyse supply chain data to identify issues, risks, and opportunities, and support the development of alternative plans where required.
- Provide market and supplier intelligence to support strategic commercial decisions.
