Job Description

Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for an OT Engineer to join its busy team, flexible working from our Repository site in Cumbria.

As OT Engineer, you will be part of a small team working alongside two other OT Engineers and assisting the OT Manager by acting as the OT System Administrator for OT systems on the LLWR site.

The OT Team forms part of the overall Engineering Department. Support to various other functions within the organisation is key to this role. These include but not limited to Projects, Commissioning, Maintenance, Safety Case, Infrastructure, Environmental and Operations.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Act as OT System Administrator for assigned systems.
  • Support technical and management investigations involving OT systems.
  • Participate in engineering studies, design reviews, HAZOPs & HAZCONs.
  • Support projects in the delivery of assigned OT systems throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support NWS’s asset management programme implementation including providing technical input into the production of Asset Management Plans (AMPs), Technical Bases of Maintenance (TBoMs) and related programme outputs for assigned OT systems.
  • Plan and complete maintenance, audit and assurance activities on OT systems across the Low Level Waste Repository Site.
  • Ensure compliance with company OT processes in accordance with the validation lifecycle, change management and system management procedures throughout the OT lifecycle.
  • Act as SQEP Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Intelligent Customer (IC) for assigned OT Systems.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Become a Nominated Person (Electrical) for OT Systems to allow for inspections, maintenance and replacements.
  • Represent NWS at applicable industry forums relating to assigned OT.
  • Review LFE and keep abreast of technological developments and outside industry best practice to assigned OT.
Experience Required

Essential

  • The ability to obtain SC clearance.
  • HNC in Control, Electrical & Instrumentation, or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant experience working in an OT role or similar environment. Accredited by an appropriate professional institution (i.e. Incorporated Engineer) or capable of achieving incorporated status and working toward that objective.
  • Knowledge and experience of the use and management of OT in a highly regulated industry.
  • Ability to produce technical reports.
  • Experience in stakeholder management.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload for multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • High-level of IT literacy, including the ability to build and manage spreadsheets and databases.

Knowledge and experience of the use and management of the following OT in a highly regulated industry:

  • CCTV systems
  • IP networks
  • Access Control Systems (ACS)
  • Intruder Detection Systems (IDS)
  • Radiometric instruments
  • SCADA systems
  • Industrial networks
  • Radio systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • HVAC control systems
  • PLC systems
  • Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s)
  • Process instruments
  • Motor controls eg. variable speed drives.
  • Experience of interpreting administrative security logs at all open system interconnection layers (networks, operating systems or application layers).
  • Experience of securely administering or configuring Active Directory (AD).
  • Experience of administering and configuring security policy within IT or OT environments.
  • Knowledge of security and cyber security requirements in Nuclear Licenced sites, and of the ONR SyAps.
  • Knowledge of cyber risk categorisation and assessment.
  • Knowledge of GAMP 5.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation platforms within OT.
