Job Description

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, to assist with all aspects of Commercial and Contract Management and Quantity Surveying, along with any other key duties as required. This role could involve secondments throughout the UK, exposure to a wide range of disciplines and contracting methodology.

What  the role-holder should do to achieve the business goals of Contract Delivery, Safety and Customer Satisfaction

  • Safety of people and the environment.
  • Customer Satisfaction is achieved by understanding & exceeding clients’ needs and expectations in order to make their business a success.
  • Scope, Time and Cost are fully understood, communicated, monitored and controlled & when required proactive mitigation is evident.
  • Continuous Improvement tools and techniques are deployed to improve efficiency and effectiveness for both Hertel and the Client
  • Absence management and timekeeping procedures are adhered to.
  • Record and report delays to Supervision.
  • Accurate recording of any required information

Key Tasks:
The role-holder has to achieve the business goals of Contract Delivery, Safety and Customer Satisfaction.

  • Producing monthly ‘Application for Payments’ for each contract.
  • Managing NEC3 Project Controls (Early Warnings / Compensation Events etc)
  • Monthly cost reporting of turnovers, gross margins etc
  • Investigation of any fluctuation within the report, liaising with relevant personnel to assist & resolve discrepancies.
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Forms of contract – NEC3 (If applicable)
  • NAV General Ledger assessments
  • Subcontract Procedures
  • Cost control measures
  • Contractual understanding
  • Authorising payments to suppliers and subcontractors
  • Conformity with internal processes
  • Assisting and advising sites with placement of subcontracts
  • Assisting where required in the valuation of subcontracts
  • Commercial Risk Management
  • Attend pre-contract/tender negotiations as & when requested
  • Review contract documents post tender/pre-contract
  • Preparing contractual / formal letters for various departments as requested
  • Monitoring performance of QS’s throughout the UK and providing training
  • Problem solve poorly performing contracts & facilitate payment of problem invoices
  • Transfer management of costs and sales
  • General day to day assistance to sites in UK.

Experience

  • Degree Qualified or equivalent QS qualification
