Sizewell C (SzC) is an independent, standalone UK energy generation utility, responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of two UK EPR reactors located on the Suffolk coastline, on the East Coast of England.
The SzC Programme will be a design replica of the plant currently under construction at the Hinkley Point C site in Somerset. A key objective of the SzC Programme therefore is to achieve and maximise replication across the two plants to optimise learning opportunities, minimise design costs and accelerate the development schedule where possible.
Sizewell C has today been given its Final Investment Decision by the British Government, unlocking the biggest investment in clean, homegrown energy in a generation and marking a major step in delivering secure, cheaper, low-carbon electricity for the UK.
