Our client is one of New Zealand's largest and most trusted recruitment companies, specialising in the supply of skilled staff. They are looking for diesel mechanics for jobs in Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua and Hawkes Bay.
- Applicants must be comfortable and experienced with diagnosing and troubleshooting faults and problems and attending to roadside breakdowns
- Applicants with both Truck and Heavy equipment experience (experience across a range of vehicles) are also highly sought after (although we can consider those that only specialise in either Trucks or Heavy Equipment, but options may be a little more limited)
- Applicants need to be experienced working with hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Basic understanding of auto electrics (basic understanding required but do not have to be specialists with this)
- Transmission rebuilds – preference for people who can rebuild transmissions although we can consider those that are able to assemble and disassemble them
- Applicants ideally need to have the equivalent to either Class 2 or Class 4 NZ Driver’s License (DL) . They need to be prepared to convert overseas HGV license asap when they arrive in NZ. We need applicants that can convert overseas DL through the NZTA immediately. Please see the following countries that the applicant needs to have a valid HGV licence in:

At least 3 years’ experience and preference for a formal diesel mechanic qualification. If no formal qualification, then we will consider how many years the applicant has been working as a mechanic.
Depends on area/location and also experience ($30 - $35 starting contract rate typically) – but we will consider higher rates on a case-by-case basis depending on the applicants’ years of experience/formal qualifications/NZ experience (if any)
